New Release: 28mm Japanese SNLF - Special Naval Landing Forces
Share
These new Eureka figures represent ground troops belonging to the Imperial Japanese Navy - the Special Naval Landing Forces.
Undertaking a wide range of combat and occupation tasks in Manchuria during the 1930s and throughout the Pacific after 1941, SNLF landing parties played an important role during the 1930s and World War 2.
Partly due to rivalry with the Imperial Army, the Navy formed their own contingents of infantry troops to accompany their warships on overseas missions. As well as shipboard actions and guarding overseas anchorages, SNLF troops were often the first ashore to secure landings and take control of contested areas.

The sailors are kitted out in naval 'landing rig' for deployment onshore, which is their shipboard 'square rig' with the addition of webbing and canvas gaiters. This uniform could be topped with either a cap or helmet painted khaki or navy blue.
This set of figures is well equipped with Swiss 7.63mm sub machine-guns, very handy for ship-to-ship actions, as well as the usual Type 38 rifles. Since these troops fulfilled such a wide range of combat roles, a Type 3 heavy machine-gun is also available as well as a sailor armed with the famous Type 89 grenade discharger.

These new figures complement Eureka's extensive range of 28mm World War 2 Japanese army figures and are perfect opponents for our World War 2 Chinese army and guerrilla ranges.
