New Release: 15mm Zagros Highlanders

Our next wave of releases arrives Friday, November 28th with 15mm Zagros Highlanders. We'll have two army packs as well as individual miniatures available.
These figures are designed to cover both Gutians and Lullubi tribes that lived in the Zagros Highlands. According to historical sources, these groups "were close neighbours, hardly to be distinguished" from one another. The range works as both allies and enemies for our 15mm Sumerian collection.

Historical Background

The Akkadians (Sumerians) invaded the Zagros mountains, forcing the tribes there to assemble in defense. While the highlander tribal confederation was defeated, the Lullubi would later regroup to attack Akkadia. Eventually the Gutians invaded and established their own line of rulers in what is now modern Iraq.

We haven't distinguished between Gutians and Lullubi with their distinctive hair for this reason. Instead, we've focused on weapon types to help gamers assembling Highlander armies for DBA, ADLG, MEG and Impetus.

The Sculpts

These are some of Alan Marsh's finest 15mm sculpts, capturing considerable character into tiny miniatures. Alan enjoyed sculpting these so much he had a little play with them before sending them to be moulded. Kosta Heristanidis also added some extra poses from Alan's master sculpts.

An interesting army for any Biblical gamer to muster and certainly something different to paint, with an abundance of animal hides and distinctive hairstyles.
