The Tale of the Hartlepool Monkey
One of the Napoleonic Wars' stranger incidents, now immortalized in miniature form.
During the conflict, a French ship was wrecked off Hartlepool on the northeast coast of England. The only survivor was the ship's pet monkey, dressed in a French military uniform. The locals, having never seen a monkey or a Frenchman, held a brief trial on the beach and hanged the unfortunate creature as a French spy.
We've captured this bizarre and grisly moment in all its dark absurdity. A unique piece for collectors of the unusual or those who appreciate history's stranger footnotes.
