The vast Eastern Front demanded specialised troops who could operate behind enemy lines, gathering intelligence and coordinating with resistance forces. Our latest 28mm WWII release brings some of these skilled operatives to your tabletop.
World War II Soviet Scouts and Snipers
All along the vast expanse of the Eastern Front, Soviet scouts acted as the eyes and ears of the Red Army.
Known as 'Razvedchiki', small units of scouts infiltrated through German lines and operated in the forests, swamps and steppes of the Soviet Union, monitoring enemy strength and dispositions, reporting troop numbers and locating strong points, supply dumps, and command nodes.
Scouts would also liaise with local partisans, who provided the scouts with additional logistical support through longer missions behind the lines. Scouts could also help establish communications between Moscow and partisan units to more effectively coordinate partisan actions with upcoming Red Army offensive operations.
These lightly equipped soldiers carried Soviet and captured submachine guns, often wearing their distinctive 'amoeba' camouflage suits. Beyond reconnaissance, scouts were tasked with capturing enemy 'tongues' – soldiers snatched from opposing lines for interrogation by Intelligence units.
Also available is a two-man sniper team, as well as a female sniper in Summer uniform.
Every Red Army Division had its famous snipers, men and women whose marksmanship skills ensured that no enemy soldier felt safe on the soil of the Motherland.
These troops were proudly venerated within their units, their fame even spreading outside the Soviet Union.
